June 17, 2009 there will be a celebration (agenda) of the joint Research Unit between UCI and the INSERM (Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale –the equivalent of NIH in France). This is the first and unique structure of this type in California. The INSERM-UCI Unit, whose Director is our joint faculty member, Professor Emiliana Borrelli, allows the exchange of students, post-doctoral fellows and sabbatical professors, providing to UCI additional visibility at the international level.

Lorena Aguilar Arnal (Sassone-Corsi lab) was awarded a long term European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) postdoctoral fellowship for 1-year from 07/01/09-06/30/10.
Jasmin Dao (Leslie lab) was awarded an American Heart Association (AHA) predoctoral fellowship for the period 07/01/09-06/30/11.
Celina Mojica (Leslie lab) was selected as a Resident Scientist awardee in the 2009-10 GK-12 Fellowship Program . This initiative is funded by NSF and its goal is to bring innovation to graduate and K-12 education.
Carlos Solorzano (Piomelli lab) was awarded the President's Dissertation Year Fellowship for academic year 2009-10.
Armando Larraga (Leslie lab) was awarded the Faculty Mentor Program (FMP) Fellowship for academic year 2009-10.
Monica Arnold (Leslie lab) was awarded an American Psychological Association (APA) Diversity Program in Neuroscience (DPN) Fellowship for the period 7/1/09-6/30/10. This fellowship is provided through a T32 training grant from NIMH.
Alvin King (Piomelli lab) was awarded the Henry Wood Elliott Memorial Award for recognition of his excellence as a graduate student for academic year 2008-09.
