October 1, 2011, Dr. Geoffrey W. Abbott, professor, joined UC Irvine, Department of Pharmacology. Dr. Abbott came to UCI from Weill Cornell Medical College, New York. Dr. Abbott's research focus is ion channel and transporter physiology, pharmacology, regulation and trafficking.
July 1, 2011, Dr. Olivier Civelli, professor and Eric L. and Lila D. Nelson Chair in Neuropharmacology was appointed Interim Chair of the Department of Pharmacology. Dr. Civelli received his PhD from the Swiss Federal Institute in Zurich. Click here to read more.

Timothy Minh (Galassetti lab) was awarded an NIH, Ruth L. Kirschstein NRSA Predoctoral M.D./Ph.D. Individual Fellowship, NIDDK, F30 DK088401, 07/01/10-06/30/16.
Nayna Sanathara, a first year rotation student, was awarded the Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP) Competitive Edge Summer Research Program Fellowship for fiscal year 2010-11. This program is sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF).
Monica Arnold (Leslie lab) was awarded the President's Dissertation Year Fellowship for academic year 2010-11.
At our 4th Annual Research Day held on 05/29/10, Jennifer Dwyer (Leslie lab) and Carlos Solorzano (Piomelli lab) were awarded the Henry Wood Elliott Memorial Award for recognition of their excellence as graduate students for academic year 2009-10.
